"Backflip" was written by Joel "Jo_ill" Merchan in 1997 while performing with his long time crew and family "Bigg Knutt Funk." This song was written to reach out, not only to the entire Pinoy nation, but to everyone facing the same struggles. The beat used in "Backflip" is produced by,(from what my sources tell me), DJ Babu of Beatjunkies, but I could be wrong since I wrote the song almost 10 years ago!
The images depicted in the video were filmed in the South of Market (SoMa) neighborhood in San Francisco.
