Description
The video shows a red-tailed hawk standing on ice, shredding its prey.
The video also shows swans and a golden-eyed duck taken at the same time and place as the hawk. It was a very cold day. The swans were wild and looked like trumpeter swans.
Also included are some autumn scenes of close deer jumping a fence. Also included were ducks taking flight, a great blue heron, and a woodpecker - all on the same pond at the same time.
**The red tailed hawk, Buteo jamaicensis, is a large powerful bird. It can weigh around 2-4 lbs. and has almost a six-foot wingspan. They have a sharp, strong, powerful beak and curved talons. They tear prey apart with their beaks. The red tails of these hawks showed up several times.
