Description Workers with Kriebel Resources drill for natural gas in a parking lot owned by Excela Health Frick Hospital on June 18, 2008, on Reservoir Street in Mt. Pleasant, Pa., 15666. This is the sixth day of 24-hour drilling in a densely populated residential area. The hospital gave residents just one day's notice of the planned start of operations. Borough council gave no notice to residents, nor have they expressed any interest in modifying existing ordinances to require that such wells not be located within close proximity to homes -- or that activities that create excessive noise cease during overnight hours. In addition to this well and others throughout town, Kriebel will drill two wells on borough property. Council believes its leases with Kriebel will reap the borough up to $20,000 per year, according to a WTAE-TV news report, but according to a subsequent Tribune-Review newspaper article, council has reported that proceeds from the first well to be installed have failed to meet expectations. The borough's second well has not yet been drilled. Excela told Kriebel it wanted its well installed before the company installed the borough's second well, according to minutes of the December 2007 borough council meeting.
