Description J.S.Bach transcripted by Leopold Stokowski Toccata and Fugue in D minor BWV565. Conducted by Wolfgang Sawallisch(1923-) the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Minato-Mirai Hall, Yokohama, Japan, in May, 1999. Leopold Stokowski(1882-1977) was conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra since 1912 to 1940, and this transciption was make in 1920s. Before WW2, its record which is Leopold Stokowski and the Philadelphia Orchestra was big hit record all of the world. In movie "FANTASIA", Toccata and Fugue is the first music which is played by Leopold Stokowski conducting and the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1940. Stokowski recoded in 1927 and 1934 with the Philadelphia Orchestra for Victor. This music is arranged by many arrangers. But I think Stokowski's version is still 1best one.
