Description WOODINVILLE, Wash. -- Builders who worked for months to put together the coveted multimillion-dollars homes on the Street of Dreams had a chance on Thursday to see first-hand the damage left by the arson blaze. Three seven-figure dream homes went up in flames early Monday in the Maltby area north of Woodinville, apparently set by eco-terrorists who left a sign mocking the builders' claims that the 4,000-plus-square-foot houses were environmentally friendly. The sign - a sheet marked with spray paint - bore the initials ELF, for Earth Liberation Front, a loose collection of radical environmentalists that has claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks since the 1990s. The sheriff's office estimated that Monday's pre-dawn fires did $7 million in damage. On Thursday some builders and other employees said they wanted to get a look at the mess they would have to deal with. Others said they wanted to see it for closure. Bob Kriebel plucked through the burnt leftovers. "Every time I look at something, I see a memory," he said. For the first time, Kriebel was able to see the damage up close. He helped build the $2 million only to have arsonists burn it down along with several other massive homes. "The heat popped off chunks of concrete here and there," said fellow builder Grey Lundberg. Lundberg said he had just gotten an offer on the home, which even had a room called the "great room" with a gas fire place and a custom-made chandelier. But now all that's left of the five-star luxury home is the foundation. "It's tough when you are actually walking up to it, go up and look at it and think about all the man hours and everything that went into that, it is just such a waste," he said. "Absolutely devastating to see our months' of work (gone) and all the people involved in the project and what is going through here," said builder Jayme Mattson, Director of Development Operations with CMI Homes. Down the street were piles of blackened rubble, a caved-in roof. The Street of Dreams is now an eyesore. "A lot of people in our company have cried over there and we thank God that no one was hurt, we pray, we ask for guidance," said Mattson. "And I think we will be led along a path that is even better than what we've come through." The FBI is investigating the fires as a potential domestic terrorism act, said FBI spokesman Rich Kolko in Washington, D.C. Agents have been gathering evidence from the scene. Detectives are confident they'll make an arrest. originally broadcast 3-7-2008
