Description When Cyclone Nargis slammed into Myanmar (Burma), it claimed thousands of lives and destroyed whole villages. Those that survived the storm are in urgent need of emergency relief. Operation Blessing is funding a team of local doctors who are able to access some of the worst affected areas. We have 5 teams that will be working for three months to provide life saving medicines to an estimated 60,000 patients. With flood water and even rotting corpses polluting most drinking water supplies, fresh water is a priority need for victims. Many villages still have deep water wells, but no electricity to pump the water out. OB worked with a local partner organization to purchase heavy duty diesel generators, allowing them to pump life saving fresh water to the surrounding communty. Through this simple project we are serving 20,000 victims and helping them avoid sickness and disease as they rebuild their lives. HOW YOU CAN HELP Be a part of OBI's ongoing disaster relief efforts that are helping to bring food, water and medical aid to Myanmar's cyclone victims.
