Description SOUNDS OF GLOBAL WORSHIP: INDIA: ASSAM, SANTHAL TRIBAL PEOPLE The Santhals of Assam, India are one of the tribal peoples of this area. They, along with the Bodos and Rabhas, also featured in this series on Sounds of Global Worship, have suffered greatly in the politically charged environment. However, God has birthed within them a wonderful expression of worship which has offered much strength. The song in this video is the Santhals' indigenous remembrance of the Christmas message accompanied with their own cultural dance. It is entitled "The Star is Shining" and has the following lyrics. THE STAR IS SHINING Composer Unknown The star is shining over the stable And today is Christmas day When we light the candle in the church Why is the star shining above the stable And why is the candle lit in the church Because the Savior of the world is born That is why the star is shining If that is the case then I will also go to Bethlehem Where the Savior is born COPYRIGHT HEART SOUNDS INTERNATIONAL.
